Amboyna Burls

Here are some amboyna burls that i may or may not have, depending on the person i'm talking to . . .

Samut-saring proyektong kahoy

We have been busy during the past few months . . . and look at what we did !!!

This is a ten-seater dining table (although you can see only 8 chairs in the photo) made of narra and kamagong. The table top is 39 inches by 7 1/2 feet with its base made to match the back of the chairs. This dining set is presently displayed at the Tabaco City Mall pasalubong center to showcase what we can do as a craftsman.

The table below is stunning in its simple elegance. And as you examine it closer, you will realize that the craftsman have paid great attention to detail.

The bed featured below is quite nice . . .

This table is fit for a general . . .

And of course, this vanity piece is fit for a general's daughter.

Magayon Festival - April 2010

We were lucky to be one of only two furniture makers to be invited to showcase our craftmanship in the Magayon Festival 2010 (ongoing until end of April 2010) held at the Albay Capitol Grounds in Legazpi City.

The corner chair shown below was sold in the first few minutes that it was displayed. There is, after all, a world of difference between seeing a piece of furniture in your monitor and in seeing it personally, touching it, carressing it . . .

We got a thousand inquiries about the price of the rocking chair, but nobody can afford it . . . well, quality is not cheap, and the good things in life are not for everybody.
Everybody has a right to life, hence, air is free for everyone to breathe. But in this modern world, even fresh air is expensive. The good things in life are not guaranteed by the Constitution. The good things in life are for people who knows the difference between so-so and extraordinary, and willing to give up an arm and a leg for the thrill of owning it.

Corner Chair - Accented With Kamagong

Our kamagong accented corner chair . . .

Price: P5,000

Dining Set - Accented with Kamagong

This dining set is just full of kamagong. One can describe it as accented with kamagong, but come to think of it, one can also say that it is accented with narra . . .

The dining set comes with two stools, similarly accented . . .

also a bench of the same design . . .

and two chairs with kamagong back rest

Price for the set: P50,000

Dining Chair with Weaved Kamagong Back Rest

Here's our version of the chair with weaved back rest. As you see, the weaved back rest is made from kamagong. In weaving the wood, we were forced to use only perfect pieces because if the kamagong has even the smallest crack in it, the wood will snap into two.

Here's the whole set.

And here's the table top (dimension 39" x 7'), aint it beautiful?

Price:
Dining chair w/o upholstery per piece = P7,000
Dining chair upholstered per piece = P8,000
8 seater table = P70,000

Double Sized Bed With A Secret

This double size bed has a secret . . .

see . . .

Price: P18,000
(if there is no foot drawer = P15,000)

Bed With Rollable Slats

The idea here is that a bed is also a storage space, and to do that, the slats must be easily moved to one side.

This second photo shows the bed with the slats rolled to one side.

Price: P15,000

Writing Desk

See our gorgeous writing table.

We may have overdone the kamagong accents, but what the heck!

The grain of the top is just awesome

Price:
writing desk = P25,000
chair (no upholstery) = P7,000
chair (upholstered) = P8,000

Queen Size Bed - Nature's Art

This queen size bed is another piece of art . . . nature's art. We are proud of our craft but we dare not claim as ours what nature alone has accomplished. Note that we kept the lines as simple as possible. We are also happy to say that every piece of wood attached to this bed has a necessary structural purpose. No piece was attached for cosmetic purposes.

In making this bed, our concept is that we will try so hard to make it perfect without making our efforts obvious. Honestly, we failed because it was not perfect and it is obvious that its not perfect hehe. The only thing we accomplished was that we tried so hard . . .

Price: P50,000

Our Cinderella Moment

This pile of wood . . .

we made into this beautiful center table

'Coz that pile of wood is balayong . . .
C'mon, we don't do alchemy here. We don't turn lead into gold. And we certainly don't turn low quality wood into some pretensious thing that it is not. Had the pile of wood been low quality wood, i'm pretty sure the result would be disappointing. But to see the the beauty in partially rotten wood and to bring it out for all to see, that's just magic. That kind of magic, that's what we do.
Price: P15,000

Sofa

We were commissioned to make this sofa. Look closely and you will see that there are actually three drawers hidden in plain view. Did you see it?

The back slats are dyed to give contrast to the sofa frame. For a few dollars more, you can have the back slats done in balayong or kamagong, making the contrast as natural as it can get.

The seats are a little low because a six-inch thick cushion is supposed to be placed on top of the seat. For more comfort, I suggest that a back cushion of several inches thick be placed to partially cover the back slats.

Price:
one piece sofa = P20,000

Bar Stool

See this gorgeous bar stool. The seat is made from laminated kamagong, narra and balayong. That's still unvarnished . . . and yet it's beautiful already.
The idea of the unbalanced foot rest is that there are tall people and there are short people. So if you are on the tall side, you can use the lower foot rest and if you are on the short side, there's always the higher foot rest.
This bar stool is safe for children. Position the bar stool so that the higher foot rest faces the table. Make sure that the bar stool is close enought to the table so that the child can sit comfortably on it while eating, without having to lean too far forward. The child can use the lower foot rest to climb the bar stool, pivot on the seat, and then use the higher foot rest to balance himself during the time that he is seated.

New Pieces for 2010

Here's some of our new pieces, hope we get commissioned to produce some more of this in 2010! It's a small console table with dimensions 12" wide x 30" long and 30" tall, made from kamagong and narra. That one got sold for PhP 7,500.

Here's another one, I dare say that this bed is a piece of art. Not ours but natures. When something is as beautiful as the narra wood that we used to build this queen sized bed, there's no need to put any more embelishment. But do check out the feet, that's kamagong. Sold for P25,000 only, it's Christmas after all.

Price:
console table = P7,500
queen size bed = P30,000
(note: P25,000 is promo price, but x-mas promo is already over)
